The Union Cabinet (India) has approved a Rs. 5,742-crore scheme to set up one-lakh common service centres (CSCs) in rural areas across the country that would offer a basket of Government to citizens and business to customer services.
About 60-70 percent of the land area of India could be officially available on the Internet based on several wide parameters including latitude, longitude, altitude, water bodies and forest cover in about a year’s time.
Union Minister for Science and Technology and Ocean Development, India, Shri Kapil Sibal unveiled the proposal for creation of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) as considered and approved by the Union Cabinet.
