BSNL Towers in Semi-Urban Areas to be Leased Out
INR 5,000 crore will be spent by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of Government of India to ensure cellular connectivity in rural areas across the country. Towards this Ericsson will provide low-cost towers.
INR 5,000 crore from the Universal Services Obligation fund has been seeked-out by Mobile handset makers towards providing free of cost cellular phone and a connection to families below poverty line.

Ericsson announced that the company will partner with the GSMA Development Fund, MTN Uganda, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide connectivity to refugee camps in Adjumani, northern Uganda.
