Elets Technomedia and eGov Magazine, in collaboration with Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) and Kochi Water Metro Limited, successfully hosted the 3rd Elets National Railway & Mobility Infrastructure Summit today, 20th December, in Kochi, Kerala. The event brought together policymakers, industry experts, and innovators to explore the future of rail, metro, and urban mobility infrastructure, with a focus on sustainable practices and cutting-edge solutions.
The summit, chaired by Shri Loknath Behera, Managing Director of KMRL, featured distinguished speakers, including Adv. M. Anil Kumar, Mayor of Kochi Municipal Corporation, and Suhas S., Managing Director of Cochin International Airport Limited. Prominent contributors such as Sajan P. John, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Kochi Water Metro, Parag Gohel, Customer Director, South Alstom, Hira Ballabh, Director (Finance), Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL) enriched discussions on topics like sustainability, electrification, and the integration of green transport technologies.
Delivering the welcoming address, Dr. Ravi Gupta, Founder, CEO, and Editor-in-Chief of Elets Technomedia, stated that in the mobility sector, the organization has been at the forefront of the conversation, advocating for sustainable mobility through its conferences, magazines, and digital platforms. He highlighted that their summits consistently bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and visionaries to explore innovative solutions for greener and smarter transportation. “We launched eGov Magazine in 2003 to spotlight ICT-based initiatives in the governance sector across the country. Over the years, we have organized 600+ conferences in India and worldwide, collaborating with 200+ government organizations to showcase best practices, address challenges, and promote technology-driven innovations,” he added.
Shri Loknath Behera, Managing Director of KMRL, emphasised: “Kerala is leading India’s leap toward sustainable mobility—revolutionizing transportation with innovation, intent, and impact. Projects like the Water Metro and the integration of electric and non-motorized transport are making a transformative difference.”
Adv. M. Anil Kumar, Mayor of Kochi Municipal Corporation, added: “Kochi Metro has been a game-changer, revolutionizing urban mobility and embedding sustainability at its core. We extend heartfelt gratitude to KMRL for setting an example for the nation.”
The event also witnessed the launch of the Elets eGov special souvenir titled ‘Clean, Green, Connected: Kerala’s Blueprint for Future-Ready Urban Transport’, highlighting Kerala’s pioneering efforts in fostering sustainable urban travel through initiatives such as the Water Metro and electric buses.
An exhibition of state-of-the-art technologies in rail, metro, and urban mobility sectors was a major highlight. The summit concluded with the much-awaited 3rd Elets National Metro, Rail & Urban Mobility Awards 2024, celebrating the achievements of organisations and individuals driving transformative mobility solutions.
The awards celebrated leaders and innovators across various sectors and categories. Freyssinet Sustainable Technology was recognized in the Government Sector for its excellence in urban mobility. Motadata Company won the Private Sector Award for pioneering digital solutions in transportation. Schindler was honoured with the Smart Mobility Award as a leading player in smart mobility. Asis Elektronik Ve Bilisim Sistemleri A.S. received the Smart Mobility Service Provider Award in the Private Sector category. Jain University (Deemed-to-be University) was acknowledged for innovation in technology as the Leading University in this domain.
Alstom was awarded the Private Sector Award for being the Innovator of the Year in Mobility Solutions. Afcons earned recognition for Leading Infrastructure in Construction. Canara Bank was honoured as the Leading Public Sector Bank in the Mobility Sector. Bengaluru Traffic Police and Arcadis received the Private Sector Award for their pioneering digital solution in transport. Agra Smart City Limited received dual recognition under Smart City Awards for its citizen-centric smart city transformation efforts. Bengaluru Traffic Police was acknowledged in the Government Sector for the Best Urban Mobility Initiative. Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd and Indian Telephone Industries were lauded for their pioneering use of technology in mobility. Davangere Smart City shone under the Government Sector for Citizen-Centric Smart City Transformation. Lastly, DMRC was celebrated for its excellence in sustainable infrastructure development.
The event concluded with engaging panel discussions, networking opportunities, and a strong reaffirmation of Kochi’s role as a hub for sustainable urban transportation innovations. With the collaboration of partners like ONDC, DFC, Alstom, Systra, and Schindler, the summit set a high benchmark for future initiatives in India’s mobility sector.
