Uttam Kumar Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Irrigation & CAD and Food & Civil Supplies, Government of Telangana, will be the Chief Guest on Day 2. The programme will also feature senior leadership from Telangana’s power generation, transmission and distribution utilities, along with energy officials and experts from several states and central institutions.

Emphasising the importance of collaboration in advancing Telangana’s energy transition, Shri A. Revanth Reddy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, said, “I am pleased to learn that the Energy Department, Government of Telangana, in association with Elets Technomedia, is organising the India Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in Hyderabad. The summit will serve as an important platform for policymakers, utilities, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore emerging opportunities in the rapidly evolving energy sector.”

The agenda has been curated around the critical priorities shaping India’s energy transition. Key discussions will focus on power generation and thermal transition, transmission and grid modernisation, power distribution and last-mile access, renewable energy and green power procurement, smart metering, revenue protection, digital SCADA and grid automation, energy efficiency, agricultural power, EVs and urban mobility, green hydrogen, energy storage, power finance, tariff and regulatory affairs, and the role of emerging technologies in building a resilient energy system.

The summit comes at a defining moment for India’s energy sector as the country advances towards its target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and works towards its longer-term net-zero emissions target by 2070. The summit’s national agenda is aligned with India’s broader energy transition objectives, including renewable energy expansion, emissions reduction, energy security and the development of a more sustainable and technology-enabled power ecosystem.

The Telangana edition will place particular emphasis on the state’s energy roadmap. Telangana is targeting an increase in solar capacity from 7,889 MW today to 19,874 MW by FY30 and 26,374 MW by FY35, while wind capacity is projected to rise from 128 MW to 2,528 MW by FY30 and 4,528 MW by FY35. Energy storage capacity through BESS and pumped storage is targeted to increase from 1,600 MW to 3,805 MW by FY30, while EV charging stations are planned to rise from 872 to 6,000 by FY30. The state is also targeting 418 KTPA of green hydrogen capacity by FY30.

Commenting on the significance of the summit, Dr. Ravi Gupta, Founder, CEO & Editor-in-Chief, Elets Technomedia, said, “Telangana’s remarkable transition from a power-deficit state to one with a diversified and expanding energy ecosystem reflects the strength of policy, infrastructure, and institutional commitment. As the state accelerates its renewable energy ambitions, the need for greater collaboration among policymakers, utilities, technology providers, and industry becomes increasingly important. The 6th India Energy Summit & Expo 2026 has been conceived as a platform to facilitate these conversations and support the exchange of ideas that will shape the future of the energy sector.”

The summit will bring together senior representatives from organisations and institutions across the energy ecosystem, including the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Ministry of Power, CERC, NITI Aayog, BIS, state energy departments, power utilities, oil and gas companies, renewable energy developers, EPC firms, OEMs, financial institutions, cleantech startups, research institutions and international energy organisations. The official programme also features senior leadership from utilities and institutions including TSTRANSCO, TGGENCO, Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation, Telangana’s power distribution companies, Singareni Collieries Company, GRIDCO, Odisha Power Generation Corporation, SECI and other sectoral organisations.

A key feature of Day 1, August 18, will be the discussion on “Modernising Transmission & Distribution: Smart Grids for a Reliable Power Future,” bringing together utility leaders and industry experts to examine grid resilience, digitalisation and the future of electricity distribution. This will be followed by discussions on India’s Energy Vision 2047, with a focus on states as drivers of the country’s energy transition, and a session on renewables, green power, critical minerals and energy infrastructure.

The first day will also feature discussions around the Green Hydrogen Mission, technical presentations and a fireside conversation between Navin Mittal and Phani Nagarjuna, examining the intersection of energy, innovation and emerging technologies. The day will conclude with a closing ceremony and networking dinner.

Day 2, August 19, will focus on scaling delivery across the energy value chain. The programme will feature a keynote address by Bhupinder S. Bhalla, IAS (Retd.), Former Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, and Chair of the Governance Board, GH2 India, followed by the Chief Guest address by Shri N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The day’s discussions will cover renewable energy and reliable electricity for rural India, energy security and thermal transition, hydrogen and grid-scale storage, sustainable mobility, EVs, city gas and clean fuels, as well as the financing of India’s energy transition. A dedicated session on “Powering India’s AI Future: Advancing Battery Energy Storage Systems for a Clean AI Economy” will examine how energy storage must evolve to support the rapidly increasing electricity requirements associated with artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.

The summit will also feature “Powering Growth: Financing Energy Transition & Industrial Development,” bringing together policymakers, industry representatives and financial stakeholders to discuss investment mechanisms and financing frameworks capable of supporting India’s clean energy ambitions and industrial growth.

A major highlight of the event will be its Exhibition and Technology Showcase, bringing together global OEMs, Indian cleantech companies and energy technology providers. The official event platform describes the exhibition as featuring thematic pillar pavilions, country zones and a dedicated Startup Showcase, alongside a broader summit and conference programme.
