SJVN announces 360 MW solar venture in Bhuj, Gujarat

In a significant development, SJVN Limited’s subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has finalised a contract agreement with Solar World Energy Solutions Private Limited, Noida, for the Balance of System (BoS) of a massive 360 MW Solar Power Project. The contract encompasses the operation and maintenance of the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Plant for a duration of three years.


The signing ceremony took place in the presence of key figures, including SJVN’s Director (Finance) Akhileshwar Singh, SGEL’s CEO Ajay Singh, and senior officials from both SGEL and Solar World Energy Solutions.

CMD NL Sharma of SJVN disclosed that the 360 MW Solar Power Project, spearheaded by SGEL, is slated for development in Bhuj, District Kutch, Gujarat. Secured through a competitive bidding process conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) on a build-own-operate basis, a Power Purchase Agreement has been formally established between SGEL and GUVNL for a tenure of 25 years.

Projections indicate that the project is poised to generate a substantial 901.87 million units in its inaugural year, with a cumulative energy production estimated at around 21,244 million units over the project’s 25-year lifecycle. Moreover, the commissioning of this solar initiative is anticipated to curtail carbon emissions by a noteworthy 1,040,975 tonnes, aligning with the Government of India’s mission for a carbon-neutral economy.
