The Indian Air Force Educational & Cultural Society, under the aegis of Air Headquarters, has taken a step towards strengthening child digital safety by onboarding Air Force Schools across the country onto ScrollControl, a comprehensive Child Digital Safety Programme. The initiative, implemented through the Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) Foundation, aims to equip schools with the knowledge and resources needed to protect children from online threats. It coincides with the observance of National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

As part of the programme, 261 teachers from 42 Air Force Schools have completed a certification course as Cyber Crime Intervention Officers. The training prepares them to identify and respond to cyber-related risks faced by children, including online grooming and exploitation, misuse of artificial intelligence, gaming-related harms, and financial fraud.
The certified teachers will also be equipped to preserve digital evidence and act as first responders in cases involving cybercrime. This will help Air Force Schools develop in-house capabilities to address digital safety concerns and provide timely support to students.

Strengthening Cyber Safety Awareness in Schools
With affordable high-speed internet, smart devices, and social media becoming increasingly accessible, school-going children are spending more time in digital spaces. However, many of these online platforms and spaces are primarily designed for adults and may expose children to various cyber risks.
Recognising the need to strengthen cyber awareness among students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed affiliated schools to incorporate cyber safety best practices through the monthly observance of Cyber Jagrookta Diwas.

The ScrollControl initiative will help Air Force Schools align with this requirement by building trained in-house capabilities and creating a stronger framework for cyber safety awareness within the school community.
Enabling a Cyber-Safe School Environment
Through ScrollControl, Air Force Schools will be able to establish cyber clubs, certify students in cyber safety, and organise awareness sessions for parents and staff. The programme will also provide access to an age-appropriate content rating platform for families.
In addition, participating schools will have the opportunity to receive recognition as a Cyber Safe School, further supporting efforts to promote responsible and safer digital practices among students.

The programme also provides for the training and certification of teachers, their empanelment on the National Security Database, and round-the-clock victim support. This support will be delivered through a multidisciplinary network of cyber lawyers, cyber psychologists and forensic experts.
Through this initiative, the Indian Air Force Educational & Cultural Society aims to strengthen cyber safety capabilities across its school network. By equipping teachers with specialised training and providing schools with access to dedicated support systems, the programme seeks to create a safer digital environment for children.
