Rabindra Kumar Agarwal Takes Charge as CWC CMD

Rabindra Kumar Agarwal, a 1997-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has assumed charge as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC).

Agarwal was serving as Chairman and Managing Director of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) before taking up his new responsibility.

Succeeds Ashutosh Agnihotri

Agarwal succeeds Ashutosh Agnihotri (IAS), who has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).


With the new assignment, Agarwal will lead CWC, a key public sector organisation involved in warehousing and logistics infrastructure.

Nearly Three Decades of Administrative Experience

Agarwal brings close to three decades of experience across state and Central government assignments. His previous roles include Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Cooperation, Principal Secretary in the Finance Department of Kerala and Deputy Director of Administration at AIIMS, New Delhi.

He also served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Shipping for five years, where he handled responsibilities linked to the sector’s policy and administration.

Strong Academic Background

Agarwal holds a graduate degree in Mathematics and a postgraduate degree in Operations Research from Delhi University. He has also undertaken advanced academic training at Duke University.

His experience across food management, cooperation, finance, shipping and administration brings a broad policy and operational perspective to his new role at CWC.

Focus on Warehousing and Logistics

As CWC CMD, Agarwal will oversee the organisation’s operations and strategic direction in the warehousing sector. His experience in food and logistics-related administration is expected to support efforts to strengthen India’s warehousing and supply-chain infrastructure.
