The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of 38 officers from various central services for holding the rank or equivalent of Joint Secretary in the Government of India.
The empanelled officers represent multiple services and batches, including the Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS), Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS), Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS), Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts & Finance Service (IP&TA&FS), Indian Forest Service (IFoS), Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax), and Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes).

These empanelments qualify the officers for central government postings at the Joint Secretary level across ministries and departments, as and when vacancies arise. The decision is expected to strengthen senior-level manpower in the central administrative structure by broadening the pool of officers eligible for top-tier roles.
