In a significant leadership transition, senior IPS officer C V Anand is set to become the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana. He is expected to take charge in the first week of May, following the retirement of the current DGP B Shivadhar Reddy on April 30, 2026.
Transition at the Top Level
C V Anand, a 1991-batch IPS officer, is currently serving as Special Chief Secretary in the Home Department. His elevation to the top police post has been widely anticipated, especially after recent administrative changes within the state government.
To facilitate the transition, the government has already appointed Shikha Goel to take over Anand’s role in the Home Department, signalling a clear succession plan.
Experienced Leadership
Anand brings extensive experience in policing and administration, having held several key positions over his career. His appointment comes at a time when Telangana continues to focus on strengthening law enforcement, public safety, and internal security.
A Planned Succession
The transition is part of a routine administrative process, ensuring continuity in leadership at the highest level of the state police. With Shivadhar Reddy completing his tenure, the appointment of Anand is expected to provide stability and strategic direction to the Telangana Police.
