
Hyderabad, January 18 – STT Global Data Centres India Private Limited (STT GDC India), a prominent provider of AI-ready colocation data centre services, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana. This agreement marks the commencement of a ₹3,500 crore investment to develop a cutting-edge data centre campus in the Meerkhanpet, Mucherla region of Hyderabad.
The MoU was formalized at a ceremony held in Singapore, attended by Telangana Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Group CEO Bruno Lopez.
A Landmark Project in Data Centre Development

The upcoming data centre campus will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, designed to meet AI demands and be scalable for future growth. With a targeted capacity of up to 100 MW, the facility is poised to become one of India’s largest data centre projects.

The initiative underscores STT GDC India’s commitment to promoting digital transformation across the country and highlights Telangana’s rise as a hub for global technology infrastructure.

Leadership Reactions
Welcoming the development, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stated, “I congratulate STT Global for making this decision. Hyderabad is set to emerge as the capital of data centres, further strengthening its position on the global technology map.”
Bruno Lopez, Group CEO of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, emphasized the significance of the collaboration. “We are honoured to work with the Government of Telangana to expand our footprint in this dynamic state. With its forward-thinking policies, robust infrastructure, and commitment to innovation, Telangana has established itself as a leader in digital initiatives. This partnership aligns with our shared vision of fostering economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and building a sustainable digital future,” Lopez said.
Telangana Industries Minister Sridhar Babu also expressed optimism about the state’s technological progress. “Telangana is on an unstoppable trajectory. STT GDC’s investment is a testament to the state’s strong ecosystem and forward-looking policies. Hyderabad will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in the ongoing AI-driven digital transformation,” he added.
Future Outlook
STT GDC India’s latest investment aligns with its long-term vision of achieving a design capacity of 1 GW across India over the next decade. The company has outlined a decadal investment plan worth approximately USD 3.2 billion. Currently, STT GDC India operates a data centre in Hyderabad’s HITEC City. The addition of the new campus will further bolster its presence in the state.

With over two decades of experience, STT GDC India has established itself as a leader in the Indian colocation market, managing more than 390 MW of critical IT load across 30 facilities in 10 cities. The Meerkhanpet project will add significant capacity to its portfolio, solidifying its position as a key player in India’s digital infrastructure development.
