The Government of India has announced a series of appointments, tenure extensions and cadre-related decisions involving senior officers across various ministries and departments.

The latest notifications include a key financial appointment in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), an extension for a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, an additional charge in the agriculture sector and the premature repatriation of a director-level officer to his parent cadre.
Varun Nayyar Appointed Internal Financial Advisor in CBI

Varun Nayyar, an officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) from the 2014 batch, has been appointed as Internal Financial Advisor (IFA) in the Central Bureau of Investigation.

He will serve at the Deputy Secretary level and remain in the position until December 12, 2028.
As Internal Financial Advisor, Nayyar will play a key role in financial management, budget planning, expenditure oversight and administrative financial governance within the country’s premier investigative agency.

Suvasish Das Gets Two-Year Extension in Tourism Ministry
The Appointments Committee has approved a two-year extension in the tenure of Suvasish Das, a 2005-batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer of the AGMUT cadre.
Das is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and will continue in the position beyond June 6, 2026.
The extension is expected to provide continuity in the ministry’s ongoing initiatives related to tourism promotion, policy implementation and sectoral development.
Sanjay Kumar Agarwal Given Additional Charge at MANAGE
Senior IAS officer Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, a 2002-batch officer of the Bihar cadre and currently Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has been entrusted with an additional responsibility.
He has been given ex-post facto additional charge as Director General of the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, at the Joint Secretary level.
The arrangement will remain in place for a period of six months, from March 30, 2026, to September 29, 2026.
MANAGE is a premier institution engaged in agricultural extension, capacity building and training programmes aimed at strengthening the agricultural ecosystem and supporting farmers across the country.
Bhaskar Repatriated to Parent Cadre
Bhaskar, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 2010 batch, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre on personal grounds.
He was serving as Director in the Ministry of Women and Child Development at the time of the order.
The repatriation has been approved with the provision of an extended cooling-off period, allowing the officer to return to his parent service before the completion of his central deputation tenure.
Routine Administrative Decisions
The latest appointments and service-related decisions are part of the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to ensure effective leadership and continuity across ministries, autonomous institutions and central agencies.
Such appointments and extensions help maintain administrative stability while enabling experienced officers to contribute to important policy, governance and institutional functions across sectors including finance, tourism, agriculture and social development.
Officials noted that these personnel decisions are aimed at strengthening administrative capacity and supporting the smooth functioning of key government organisations.
