In a significant administrative reshuffle, fourteen officers from the State Administrative Service (SAS), including Chhattisgarh Public Relations Director Ajay Aggarwal, have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The promotions were approved during the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting held in Delhi today. Key attendees included Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain (1989-batch IAS), Additional Chief Secretary Renu Pillai (1991-batch IAS), and General Administration Department Secretary Mukesh Bansal (2004-batch IAS).
The state government initially forwarded a list of nearly three dozen officers for consideration. However, three cases remain unresolved. Saumya Chaurasia, implicated in the coal scam, is currently in judicial custody. Aarti Vasnik faces an FIR linked to the PSC scam and is under departmental investigation. The promotion of Tirthraj Agarwal is subject to judicial review, although he has received a clean chit from the state in its internal probe.
This round of promotions also addressed previous grievances, with Santosh Dewangan and Heena Netam, who were excluded in the earlier cycle, now included.
