NAFED

In a strategic move, the Union Government has announced the transfer of 29 senior officers to Joint Secretary-level positions across multiple ministries. Among key appointments, IAS Deepak Agarwal (2000-batch) has been appointed as the Managing Director of NAFED, under the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. IAS Manmeet Kaur Nanda (2000-batch) has also taken the role of Joint Secretary in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Other notable appointments include IAS officers Chauhan Santa Chand, Balamurugan D, and Ajoy Sharma, along with key postings for officers from various services, including IFoS, IRS, and ITS.

  • Chauhan Santa Chand (1999-batch AGMUT IAS) appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, for a five-year term until April 25, 2028. She succeeds NBS Rajput (1999-batch IAS).

  • Monalisa Dash (2003-batch IFoS) to serve as Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, for five years until October 11, 2026, replacing Bishwajit Kumar Singh (1989-batch IFoS).
  • Kesang Yangzom Sherpa (1995-batch IRS-IT) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, for five years ending October 14, 2025, succeeding Indu C Nair (2001-batch IRAS).
  • Mohit Yadav (2002-batch IFS) designated as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Joint Secretary level in the Department of Commerce for a three-year term, succeeding Srikar K Reddy (2001-batch IFS).
  • Premjit Lal (1992-batch ITS) appointed Executive Director of India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), Department of Commerce, until superannuation on June 30, 2028, replacing Rajat Agarwal (2003-batch Punjab IAS).
  • Balamurugan D (2005-batch Bihar IAS) named Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, for five years until May 8, 2028, succeeding Manoj Pandey (1992-batch IRS-IT).
  • Garima Bhagat (1996-batch IRS-IT) to serve as Joint Secretary, Department of Defence Production, for five years, succeeding Anurag Bajpai (1994-batch IFoS).
  • Niraj Kumar (CSS) appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, for five years, replacing Monalisa Dash (2003-batch IFoS).
  • Manmeet Kaur Nanda (2000-batch IAS, West Bengal cadre) appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, with a one-year extension beyond November 10, 2024. She succeeds Rajesh Kumar Yadav (1996-batch IAS).
  • Rajat Agarwal (2003-batch IAS, Punjab cadre) named Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, with a five-year term ending on February 13, 2028.
  • Ved Prakash Mishra (2004-batch IRS-IT) promoted to Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, for a five-year term ending March 31, 2026.
  • C Shikha (2004-batch IAS, Karnataka cadre) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution, for five years, replacing N Gulzar (1999-batch IAS, Andhra cadre).
  • Officer Sangeet (IDAS:2004) assigned as Joint Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution, for a combined tenure of six years, ending on March 12, 2025.
  • Ravi Kumar (IRSME:1992) appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, for a seven-year term ending on January 10, 2026, succeeding Mukta Shekhar (IRAS:1994).
  • Raj Kumar (IA&AS:1999) named Director (Finance) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, for a five-year term, succeeding Dhananjay Kumar (IDAS:1993).
  • Praveen Kumar Rai (IDAS:2003) will serve as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, for a seven-year combined tenure, ending on August 16, 2026, succeeding Ashish Kumar (2005-batch IAS, Tamil Nadu cadre).
  • Rakesh Kumar Pandey (IDAS:2003) appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, for a seven-year tenure, ending May 13, 2025, replacing Shyamal Misra (1996-batch IAS, Haryana cadre).
  • Rajesh Gupta (2001-batch IRSEE) designated as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, for five years, ending April 15, 2026, succeeding Sumant Singh (2003-batch IAS).
  • Ajoy Sharma (1999-batch IAS, Punjab cadre) appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Employment for a five-year term or until further orders, transitioning from Additional Secretary.
  • Dinesh Mahur (1992-batch ITS) appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Mines for five years or until superannuation on December 31, 2029. He replaces Veena Kumar Dermal (1998-batch IPoS).
  • P Bala Kiran (2008-batch IAS, Kerala cadre) appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training for five years, ending on February 28, 2026, succeeding Rajat Kumar (2005-batch IAS, Chhattisgarh cadre).
  • Anjan Kumar Mishra (1998-batch IOFS) appointed Secretary of the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas for a five-year term, succeeding Vandana Sharma (CSS).
  • Mukesh Mangal (1992-batch ITS) appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways until superannuation on November 30, 2028. He succeeds Sushil Kumar Singh (IRSME:1993).
  • Gurneet Tej (2006-batch IAS) appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade for a five-year term, succeeding Balamurugan D (2005-batch IAS).
  • Abhilasha Jha Misra (2000-batch IRAS) appointed Member Secretary (JS level) of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the Department of School Education & Literacy for four years, replacing Kesang Yangzom Sherpa (1995-batch IRS-IT).
  • Amit Nirmal (2001-batch ISS) appointed as Joint Secretary in the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for a five-year term, succeeding K Touthang (CSS).
  • Bhavna Saxena (1996-batch IPS) appointed CEO of the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) under the Ministry of Women & Child Development for a five-year term until February 15, 2027, or until further orders.
