DoT speeds up spectrum allocation, issues Letter of Intent to telcos

Spectrum As the Department of Telecom (DoT) looks forward to speed up spectrum allocation, the Letter of Intent (LoI) to all the telecom players that participated in the March auction has been issued.


 “We are speeding up allocation of the spectrum which has already been auctioned this year. The Letter of Intent has been issued to all in this regard,” Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

 According to report, the spectrum will be a allocated after the telcos complete all formalities, including submission of bank guarantees.

 In March, the government got around Rs 1.1 lakh crore from the sale of air waves in four bands — 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz.
