A Subordinate Legislation Committee of the State Legislature on E-governance has urged the Karnataka state government to open BangaloreOne type centres, in all district headquarters for the benefit of the public.
The Legislation recommended the government to initiate steps to introduce computerisation in the administration of local bodies. The report called for entrusting e-governance responsibilities to some officials in each department to post update information on sanction of funds and implementation of schemes. The Public Works Department has established a Road Information System from the World Bank aid. The panel suggested that the government must hold a training programme for implementing the successful e-Governance in the state. Around 20 BangaloreOne centres have been offering variety of services like Mahanagara Palike, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, BSNL, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, City Police, Regional Passport Office, Commercial Taxes Department, Stamps and Registration and Regional Transport Offices.
