Prakash Rajpurohit, a 2010-batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as Part-Time Official Director (Government Director) on the Board of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
The appointment was approved by the competent authority and communicated by the Ministry of Defence through an Office Memorandum dated September 17, 2026.
Takes Over From Meera Mohanty
Rajpurohit has been appointed in place of Meera Mohanty, Joint Secretary (P&C), Ministry of Defence, with effect from September 17.
He will continue as Government Director on the BDL Board until further orders.
Currently With Defence Production Department
Rajpurohit is currently serving as Joint Secretary (DIP), Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence.
His new board responsibility comes alongside his role in the ministry, where he is associated with matters concerning India’s defence production ecosystem.
IIT Delhi Graduate
Rajpurohit holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi.
Before moving to the Ministry of Defence, he served as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, where he handled matters related to international investment treaties.
Experience in Rajasthan Administration
During his tenure with the Government of Rajasthan, Rajpurohit held several administrative assignments covering both field administration and policy work.
His previous responsibilities included roles in district administration, commercial taxes and the Excise Department, including serving as Excise Commissioner.

New Role at BDL
As Government Director, Rajpurohit will represent the government on the Board of Bharat Dynamics Limited, a public sector company under the Ministry of Defence.
His appointment adds his administrative and defence-sector experience to the company’s board-level functioning.
