Meera Mohanty, a 2005-batch Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as Government Nominee Director on the Board of Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) with effect from September 17, 2026.
New Role at MIDHANI
Mohanty joins the MIDHANI Board as the government’s nominee while continuing her responsibilities in the Ministry of Defence.
She is currently serving as Joint Secretary (Personnel & Coordination), Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence.
Replaces Prakash Rajpurohit
Mohanty succeeds Prakash Rajpurohit, whose tenure as Government Nominee Director on the MIDHANI Board ended on September 17.
The change takes effect from the same date as Mohanty’s appointment.
Previous Experience in PMO
Before taking up her present assignment in the Department of Defence Production, Mohanty served as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Her administrative experience includes working at senior levels in the central government.

Mohanty is also serving as a Government Nominee Director on the Board of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
Her appointment to the MIDHANI Board adds another public-sector defence company to her current board responsibilities.
