Haryana government

The Haryana government has announced a fresh administrative reshuffle, transferring one IAS officer and one HCS officer as part of efforts to strengthen municipal administration and improve urban governance across key districts. The latest transfer order brings changes in Ambala and Sirsa, two important urban centres in the state.

The appointments were issued by the Personnel Department and are aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and streamlining municipal operations.

Virender Singh Sehrawat Gets Key Urban Administration Role in Ambala

2018-batch IAS officer Virender Singh Sehrawat has been transferred from Sirsa and assigned two major responsibilities in Ambala.

He has been appointed as:

  • District Municipal Commissioner, Ambala
  • Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ambala

Before this transfer, Sehrawat was serving as District Municipal Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner in Sirsa.

Both positions in Ambala had remained vacant, and his appointment now places him in charge of important urban administration and civic management responsibilities in the city.

Surender Singh-III Posted as District Municipal Commissioner, Sirsa

As part of the same reshuffle, Surender Singh-III, a 2016-batch HCS officer, has been posted as District Municipal Commissioner, Sirsa.

Prior to this assignment, he was serving as Zonal Administrator in the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB), Hisar.

He replaces Virender Singh Sehrawat following the latter’s move to Ambala.

Ambala Post Given Senior Administrative Status

The government order also clarified that under Rule 12(1) of the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016, the post of District Municipal Commissioner, Ambala, has been declared equivalent in status and responsibility to the Senior Scale of the Indian Administrative Service.

The move reflects the administrative importance attached to the position and underscores the significance of municipal governance in growing urban centres.

Focus on Strengthening Municipal Governance

Officials believe the latest transfers are part of the Haryana government’s broader efforts to strengthen city administration and improve public service delivery.
