In a key appointment within the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Hardik Satishchandra Shah, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, has been named as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He will serve at the level of Joint Secretary, and his appointment is on a co-terminus basis, meaning it will run concurrently with the tenure of the Prime Minister.
Hardik Shah was recently empanelled for holding positions at the Joint Secretary level or equivalent in the Government of India in February 2026, marking an important milestone in his administrative career.
Known for his experience in governance and policy implementation, Shah’s appointment places him in a crucial role within the PMO, where he will be closely involved in coordinating key administrative functions and supporting decision-making at the highest level.
Such appointments are significant as the Private Secretary plays an important role in managing the Prime Minister’s official work, ensuring smooth coordination between departments, and facilitating efficient communication within the government.
With this new responsibility, Hardik Shah steps into a position that demands both administrative expertise and high-level coordination, contributing to the effective functioning of the Prime Minister’s Office under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
