The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday promoted 67 IAS officers, including four from the 2001 batch who have been elevated to the rank of Principal Secretary with supertime pay. The promotions will take effect from January 1, 2026, and are expected to lead to a round of administrative transfers.
The promotion orders were issued by the Appointments and Personnel Department. Officers at the levels of Secretary, Special Secretary, and those in selection and senior time scales are expected to assume new postings following the exercise.
Principal Secretary Promotions
Four officers from the 2001 batch have been promoted to Principal Secretary:
- Shashi Bhushan Lal Sushil, Divisional Commissioner, Devipatan Division
- Ajay Kumar Shukla, Secretary, Urban Development
- Aparna U, Secretary, Medical Education
- SVS Ranga Rao, Member, Revenue Board
They have been granted supertime pay in the range of ₹1,44,200 to ₹2,18,200.
Secretary-Level Promotions
Nineteen IAS officers from the 2010 batch were promoted from Special Secretary to Secretary. The list includes Durga Shakti Nagpal, Akhand Pratap Singh, Kumar Prashant, Neha Sharma and Ravindra Kumar. Some officers received pro forma promotions and will be required to complete the Mid-Career Training Programme (Phase IV) within two years.

Other Promotions
From the 2013 batch, 30 officers were promoted to Selection Grade Pay (₹1,23,100–₹2,15,900), including Divya Mittal, Rajkamal Yadav and Priyanka Niranjan. Chandni Singh received a pro forma promotion, subject to completion of mid-career training within three years.
Rajesh Kumar Tyagi from the 2012 batch was also granted selection grade pay.
Thirteen officers from the 2022 batch were promoted to Senior Time Scale Pay, including Shruti Sharma, Gamini Singla and Utkarsh Dwivedi.
DPC and Eligibility
The promotions were cleared by the Departmental Promotion Committee, which met on December 7 under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. Officers with 25 years of service are eligible for promotion to Principal Secretary, while those completing 16 years are considered for Secretary-level posts.
With several officers moving to higher ranks, changes in departmental leadership, divisional commissioner assignments and district magistrate postings are expected in the coming weeks.
