The Karnataka government has announced another round of bureaucratic reshuffling, transferring three Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to new positions. Additionally, two officers have been assigned concurrent charges, and one officer is set to retire soon. The state’s Personnel and Administrative Department has issued official orders, directing the officers to assume their new responsibilities immediately.

Key Transfers and Appointments

IAS officer Smt. Archana M.S. (Batch 2012) has been appointed as Special Deputy Commissioner-III, Bengaluru Urban District (North), Bengaluru, until further notice. She replaces Vasanthi Amar B.V. Prior to this assignment, Smt. Archana served as the Regional Commissioner (West) at Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

In another major move, Basavarajendra H. (Batch 2012), who is currently serving as Chairman of the Karnataka School Examination and Evaluation Board, Bangalore, has been given the additional charge of Commissioner of the Public Libraries Department, Bangalore. His new responsibility will take effect from April 1, 2025.


IAS officer Kurma Rao M. (Batch 2011), who holds the position of State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Karnataka, Bengaluru, has been given the concurrent charge of Director of Public Education, Mid-Day Meal, Bengaluru. This appointment is effective immediately, relieving IAS officer Sadashiv Prabhu V. of his concurrent responsibilities.

This reshuffle comes shortly after another set of IAS transfers in Karnataka. Recently, the government reassigned three IAS officers, two of whom were given concurrent charges.

Nagaraj N.M. was appointed as Managing Director of the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, Bengaluru. Yatish R. was designated as Director of Electronic Delivery of Citizen Services, DPAR (e-Governance), Bengaluru, and was additionally entrusted with the role of Project Director, HRMS 2.0 Department, Bengaluru. V. Rashmi Mahesh was appointed as Secretary of the Government School Education and Literacy Department, Bengaluru, along with the concurrent charge of Principal Secretary, Revenue Department (Disaster Management, Land, and UPOR).

The Karnataka government has mandated that the newly assigned officers take charge without delay to ensure smooth administrative operations. Frequent reshuffles within the bureaucracy reflect the state’s commitment to improving governance efficiency and aligning leadership with strategic priorities.
