The West Bengal government, in its recent police reshuffle, has appointed IPS officer Ajay Kumar Thakur (2007 batch) as the new Commissioner of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate. The announcement, made on Saturday, marks a key leadership transition in the region.
Former Commissioner Alok Rajoria has been reassigned as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic for West Bengal Police, a move aimed at enhancing traffic management and law enforcement across the state.

Additionally, IPS officer Raj Narayan Mukherjee, who previously served as Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic, has been appointed as the Commandant of the State Armed Police (SAP) 2nd Battalion. The reshuffle is part of a broader strategy to improve efficiency and operational coordination within the state police force.
