The Government of India, on January 23, in a major move appointed 13 IAS officers to the rank and pay scale of Secretary and equivalent posts in various department and ministries.

  1. Deepak Khandekar (IAS 1985-Batch) has been posted as Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

  2. Upendra Prasad Singh (IAS 1985-Batch) has been given the post of Secretary, Ministry of Textiles.

  3. Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi (IAS 1987-Batch) will take over as Secretary, Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.


  4. Yogendra Tripathy (IAS 1985-Batch) has been made Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

  5. Alok Tandon (IAS 1986-Batch) has been given the charge of Secretary, Ministry of Mines.

  6. GV Venugopala Sarma (IAS 1986-Batch) will assume the charge of Chairman, National Authority, Chemical Weapons Convention, that is equivalent to the rank and pay scale of Secretary to the Government of India.

  7. Pankaj Kumar (IAS 1987-Batch) will take over as Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (Ministry of Jal Shakti).

  8. Otem Dai (IAS 1987-Batch) has been handed over the post of Secretary, Central Vigilance Commission that is equivalent to the rank and pay of Secretary by temporarily upgrading the post to Secretary level.

  9. Alok Kumar I (IAS 1988-Batch) has been posted as Secretary, Ministry of Power.

  10. Bidyut Bihari Swain (IAS 1988-Batch) has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

  11. Praveen Kumar Srivastava (IAS 1988-Batch) will take over as Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat.

  12. Arvind Singh (IAS 1988-Batch) has been given the charge of Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.

  13. Alka Tiwari (IAS 1988-Batch) will assume the charge of Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST).
