The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), India has initiated a major e-Governance programme with the assistance of the Department For International Development (DFID) to make the KMC's functions more efficient.

KMC is planning to install the central server in the KMC headquarters. The central server will play major role in e-Network apparatus to make the KMC's functions citizen-centric. Once the central server would be installed and commissioned, all the departments of the KMC would be inter-connected and integrated through the server. The citizens of Kolkata would be able to get information related to KMC civic services. People would be able to obtain online certificates, irrespective of the zone or time. KMC is planning to implement an e-Collection system, through people can use their credit card to pay their dues and taxes. KMC is also planning to update and improve their website.
