Government of Gujarat


In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Government of Gujarat has announced several key appointments and transfers among its senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers.

  1. Smt. Sunaina Tomar, IAS (RR:GJ:1989), Currently the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to the Social Justice & Empowerment Department, has been appointed as the ACS to the Education Department (Higher & Technical Education). She will also hold the additional charge of her current department until further orders.
  2. Shri Pankaj Joshi, IAS (RR:GJ:1989), the ACS to the Chief Minister will now also serve as the ACS to the Ports & Transport Department, relieving Shri Manoj Kumar Das, IAS, of the additional charge.
  3. Shri Manoj Kumar Das, IAS (RR:GJ:1990), transferred from the Revenue Department, Shri Das will now serve as the ACS to the Chief Minister and hold additional charge of the Home Department, relieving Shri Amrendra Kumar Rakesh, IAS, of that post.
  4. Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi, IAS (RR:GJ:1991), upon her repatriation to the state cadre, appointed as the ACS to the Revenue Department, replacing Shri Manoj Kumar Das. Shri Swaroop P., IAS, will temporarily handle this role until Dr. Ravi assumes her charge.
  5. Dr. Anju Sharma, IAS (RR:GJ:1991), transferred from the Labour, Skill Development, and Employment Department, Dr. Sharma will now serve as the ACS to the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department, succeeding Shri Amrendra Kumar Rakesh, IAS, upon his retirement.
  6. Shri S.J. Haider, IAS (RR:GJ:1991), moving from the Industries & Mines Department, is now appointed as the ACS to the Energy & Petrochemicals Department, succeeding Ms. Mamta Verma, IAS.
  7. Shri Jagdish Prasad Gupta, IAS (RR:GJ:1991), transferred from the Finance Department, will now serve as the ACS to the Tribal Development Department, succeeding Dr. S. Murali Krishna, IAS.
  8. Dr. T. Natarajan, IAS (RR:GJ:1996), upon his repatriation to the state cadre, he is appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Finance Department, replacing Shri Jagdish Prasad Gupta, IAS. Shri Rajeev Topno, IAS, will hold this role temporarily until Dr. Natarajan assumes his charge.
  9. Mamta Verma, IAS (RR:GJ:1996), transferred from the Energy & Petrochemicals Department, is now appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Industries & Mines Department, replacing Shri S.J. Haider, IAS.
  10. Shri Mukesh Kumar, IAS (RR:GJ:1996), moving from the Education Department (Higher & Technical Education), he is appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Education Department (Primary & Secondary Education), succeeding Dr. Vinod Ramachandra Rao, IAS.
  11. Shri Rajeev Topno, IAS (RR:GJ:1996), named as the Chief Commissioner of State Tax in Ahmedabad, relieving Arti Kanwar, IAS, of the additional charge.
  12. Dr. S. Murali Krishna, IAS (RR:GJ:1998), transferred from the Tribal Development Department, will now serve as Officer on Special Duty to the Commissioner, State Election Commission.
  13. Dr. Vinod Ramachandra Rao, IAS (RR:GJ:2000), transferred from the Education Department (Primary & Secondary Education), he will now serve as the Secretary to the Labour, Skill Development, and Employment Department, replacing Dr. Anju Sharma, IAS.
  14. Shri Anupam Anand, IAS (RR:GJ:2000), appointed as Commissioner of Transport, Gandhinagar, and will hold the additional charge of Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, until further orders.
  15. Shri Rajesh Manjhu, IAS (RR:GJ:2004), was transferred from the position of Principal Secretary to the Governor of Gujarat and is now appointed as Revenue Inspection Commissioner and ex-officio Secretary to the Revenue Department.
  16. Shri Rakesh Shankar, IAS (RR:GJ:2004), transferred to the Women & Child Development Department as Commissioner and Secretary, while also holding the additional charge of Secretary to the General Administration Department (Planning).
  17. Shri K.K. Nirala, IAS (RR:GJ:2005), was appointed as Secretary to the Finance Department (Expenditure), relieving his previous additional charge.
  18. Shri A.M. Sharma, IAS (SCS:GJ:2008), transferred to serve as Principal Secretary to the Governor of Gujarat, replacing Shri Rajesh Manjhu, IAS.
