In a decisive administrative overhaul, 10 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers have been transferred across Madhya Pradesh, following direct intervention by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav. The reshuffle comes in the wake of high-profile controversies and internal disputes that have attracted widespread public and political scrutiny.
Key figures removed from their posts include Chambal Range IG Sushant Kumar Saxena, DIG Kumar Saurabh, Katni SP Abhijeet Ranjan, and Datia SP Virendra Kumar Mishra. Their reassignments were swiftly ordered by the Chief Minister after incidents that brought the conduct of senior officers into question.
Clashes and Controversies Prompt Swift Action
Two major incidents triggered the reshuffle. In Datia, a reported altercation between IG, DIG, and SP during preparations for the airport inauguration ceremony on May 31 unfolded publicly in front of BJP workers and citizens. In Katni, SP Abhijeet Ranjan became embroiled in a controversy linked to a domestic dispute involving Tehsildar Shailendra Bihari Sharma and his wife, CSP Khyati Mishra, which escalated into a matter of public and media attention.
Taking to social media platform X, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described the officers’ behaviour as “regrettable in public service” and emphasized that such conduct would not be tolerated. He ordered their immediate removal, with transfer orders executed within an hour.
