India is aiming to provide 20 million broadband connections by the end of year 2010. Indian Communications & Information Technology Minister has set a target to provide nine million broadband connections in India.
Tamil Nadu (TN) State Government has finalised a bid for 40,000 Lenovo desktops, which can be installed with both Novell’s Suse Linux and Microsoft’s Windows XP Starter Edition in Tamil Nadu, India. The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Elcot) will deploy the 40,000 Lenovo desktops in all schools and government departments of the state.
In India, Goa has been considered as the best state of the country for its e-Governance initiatives at the summit organised in New Delhi by the Cyber Media India Ltd along with the Union Ministry of information technology.
