Amardeep Singh Bhatia takes charge as Secretary, DPIIT

Amardeep Singh Bhatia, IAS, has officially taken charge as the Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, succeeding Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS, who has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Defence. Previously, Bhatia served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce.


A 1993-batch IAS officer from the Nagaland cadre, Bhatia has held several key positions in the Central Government, including roles in the Ministries of Corporate Affairs and Health & Family Welfare. His extensive experience also includes significant roles in the State Government, where he managed departments such as Planning & Coordination, Health & Family Welfare, Environment & Forest, Municipalities and Local Self Government, and Home.
