In a surprising turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially declared Mohan Yadav as the Chief Minister-elect of Madhya Pradesh. This announcement followed a meeting between BJP observers and the newly elected BJP MLAs in the state. Mohan Yadav, who currently serves as an MLA from Ujjain South and was a former minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet, emerged as the chosen candidate for the top position.

This decision comes as a shock to many, as several prominent leaders had been considered front runners for the position, including four-time MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Prahlad Patel, Narendra Tomar, Kailash Vijayvargiya, VD Sharma, and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The BJP secured a resounding victory in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections held on November 17, capturing 163 out of the 230 seats, while the Congress trailed far behind with just 66 seats.
