Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has shown its interest to implement the e-Governance programme in Orissa, after successfully implementing the e-Governance programme in Andhra Pradesh, India.

 

The software major, TCS has proposed to simplify governance by using IT as an 'enabler' in prioritising activities and sharing information and data across users and departments. TCS has developed a product called 'SmartGov' in association with the Andhra Pradesh Government. SmartGov is a system for automating the functions of any Government departments at all levels of administration. TCS' e-Governance programme aims to reduce file works, manage time of government employees and also provides a single window for people service. The system fulfills the needs of all staff members at all levels in the Secretariat and enhance productivity. The company has also helped Andhra Government to set up 2300 common services centre (kiosks) under e-Seva. These kiosks are one-stop services centres for rural people.
