Vasudha Chandra Suratkal Recommended as OMDC CMD

Vasudha Chandra Suratkal has been recommended for appointment as the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Orissa Mineral Development Company Limited (OMDC), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Steel.

The recommendation was made by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) after its selection meeting held on September 11, 2026.

Suratkal Emerges as PESB Choice

Suratkal is currently serving as Chief General Manager (Mining), KIOCL Limited. He was recommended for the OMDC CMD post after being interviewed along with three other candidates.

The other candidates considered by the PESB panel were Akhandalamani Behera and KVSLN Sastry, General Managers at RINL-VSP, and Puvvula Sai Srinivas, General Manager (Commercial) at NMDC Limited.

Key Role at OMDC

As CMD, Suratkal will serve as the chief executive of OMDC and will be responsible for the overall functioning of the company.

The CMD will be accountable to the Board of Directors, the government and shareholders, while overseeing the company’s operations and working towards its corporate objectives and performance targets.

Appointment Awaits Final Clearance

The PESB recommendation is an important step in the appointment process. Suratkal’s appointment as OMDC CMD will take effect after completion of the required formalities and necessary approvals.
