In a fresh administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening policing and improving operational efficiency, the Bihar government has transferred five IPS officers and eight Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-rank officers across key departments and field assignments. The changes impact important wings including security, cyber operations, CID and district policing.
The latest reshuffle is part of the state government’s broader effort to reinforce law and order, enhance cybercrime response capabilities and strengthen specialised policing units across Bihar.
Senior IPS Officers Get New Responsibilities
Senior IPS officer Sanjay Singh (1997 batch) has been appointed as Additional Director General (Security). In addition to his new role, he will continue to hold the additional responsibility of ADG (Budget, Appeal and Welfare).
IPS officer Anand Kumar (2012 batch) has been posted as Deputy Inspector General (Security). He will also continue to handle the additional charge of DIG (Law and Order).
Aditya Kumar, Rajesh Kumar and Vaibhav Sharma Shifted
IPS officer Aditya Kumar (2011 batch), who was serving in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been transferred and appointed as Commandant, Bihar Special Armed Police-14 (BSAP-14). He has also been entrusted with additional charge as Superintendent of Police, CID-3.
Promotee IPS officer Rajesh Kumar (2016 batch) has been shifted from his earlier assignment as SP, Naugachia, and posted as Superintendent of Police, Cyber Research and Operations in the Economic Offences Unit (EOU), Patna.
Meanwhile, Vaibhav Sharma (2018 batch), who had been serving as SP, Cyber Research and Operations, EOU, has now been appointed the new Superintendent of Police of Naugachia.
DSP-Level Transfers Across Bihar
Alongside IPS-level changes, the state government has also transferred eight DSP-rank officers and assigned them to district and specialised positions.
Key appointments include:
- Gaurav Kumar – SDPO-2, Purnia (Sadar)
- Anupesh Narayan – SDPO, Nirmali (Supaul)
- Gopal Krishna – SDPO, Mohania (Kaimur)
- Vikas Kumar – Posted to Special Task Force (STF), Patna
- Kaushal Kishore Kamal – Posted to CID, Patna
- Ranjan Kumar Singh – DSP (Traffic), Purnia
- Suresh Prasad Ram – Posted to Special Vigilance Unit (SVU), Patna
- Krishna Kumar Gupta – Posted to Special Vigilance Unit (SVU), Patna
Focus on Security and Specialized Policing
Officials indicated that the reshuffle has been designed to place experienced officers in strategic positions dealing with security, cyber investigations and specialised law enforcement responsibilities.
The appointments are expected to strengthen coordination between departments and improve the overall effectiveness of policing and public safety mechanisms across the state.
