Kaynes Semiconductor Facility

In a major step towards strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility of Kaynes Semicon in Sanand, Ahmedabad.

The inauguration marks an important milestone in India’s journey to become a global hub for advanced manufacturing and semiconductor production.

Strengthening India’s Semiconductor Vision

The new facility reflects India’s growing focus on building a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem, reducing dependence on imports, and boosting domestic manufacturing capabilities.

The OSAT unit will play a critical role in chip packaging, testing, and assembly, which are key stages in the semiconductor value chain. This is expected to support industries such as electronics, automotive, telecom, and defence.

Gujarat Emerging as Semiconductor Hub

With projects like this, Gujarat is rapidly positioning itself as a key destination for semiconductor investments in India. The state’s infrastructure, policy support, and industrial ecosystem are attracting both domestic and global players.

GIFT City Gains Momentum in High-Tech Ecosystem

Alongside manufacturing growth, GIFT City is emerging as a strategic hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) focused on semiconductors and electronics.

The ecosystem already includes global players such as Infineon Technologies, Tata Electronics, and Technip Energies, creating a strong base for innovation, research, and high-end design.

Boost for Innovation and R&D

The growing presence of semiconductor companies is expected to strengthen innovation, R&D capabilities, and design centres in India. It will also create high-skilled employment opportunities and accelerate technology-driven growth.
