Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT)

In a move aimed at strengthening India’s innovation and manufacturing ecosystem, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Blue Star Limited.

The partnership focuses on supporting startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs working in areas such as HVAC technologies, digital solutions, advanced manufacturing, and supply chain innovation. The idea is to create an ecosystem where startups can work closely with industry and build solutions that are practical, scalable, and market-ready.

Under this collaboration, startups will get access to industry mentorship, research and development facilities, testing infrastructure, and pilot opportunities. This will help them not only develop their ideas but also validate them through real-world applications. The initiative will also support proof-of-concept (PoC) development and help startups integrate into existing industry value chains.

Speaking on the partnership, DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv Singh said that such collaborations play a crucial role in promoting industry-led innovation. He highlighted that when startups work on real-world challenges alongside industry players, it significantly improves their chances of scaling successfully.

As part of the initiative, DPIIT and Blue Star are also planning to organise innovation challenges and hackathons under the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge. These will focus on solving key problems in manufacturing, HVAC, and digital technologies, giving startups an opportunity to showcase and test their solutions.

The MoU was formally signed by T. L. K. Singh, Deputy Secretary, DPIIT, and B Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Blue Star Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.
