Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI) has appointed Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), as Government Nominee Director on its Board, effective 23 February 2026.

The approval was conveyed by the Ministry through letter No. SS-11025/1/2024-SU following authorization by the Competent Authority.

Board-Level Change at SCI

Mukesh Mangal’s appointment has been made in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, which requires listed companies to promptly disclose changes in board composition. SCI will complete all statutory formalities, including filings with stock exchanges and regulatory authorities.

Simultaneously, R. Lakshmanan, Joint Secretary, MoPSW, has ceased to be the Government Nominee Director on SCI’s Board with immediate effect, marking the end of his tenure.

Role and Responsibilities

Currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Mukesh Mangal oversees policies and operations related to India’s ports, shipping, and maritime infrastructure. His presence on SCI’s Board is expected to:

  • Provide strategic policy guidance to the corporation

  • Strengthen coordination between the government and SCI

  • Support corporate governance and long-term growth initiatives
