Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited an advanced hydrogen energy facility in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, during his ongoing official tour, highlighting green hydrogen as a transformative solution for meeting future energy needs and achieving sustainable development.

During the visit, the Chief Minister examined the plant’s state-of-the-art power-to-gas system and interacted with technical experts to gain insights into its operations and real-world applications. He praised the innovative technologies being deployed, noting their importance in addressing rising energy demand while reducing environmental impact.
Power-to-Gas Technology Converts Renewable Energy into Hydrogen

The Yamanashi facility uses a power-to-gas system that converts electricity generated from renewable sources such as solar and wind into hydrogen. The process involves electrolysis, where excess renewable electricity is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.

The produced hydrogen can then be used as a clean fuel, stored for later energy use, or deployed in transportation systems. This approach enhances energy efficiency, supports long-term storage of renewable power, and significantly lowers carbon emissions.
Green Hydrogen Highlighted as a Game-Changer

CM Yogi Adityanath described green hydrogen as a practical model for clean energy and sustainable growth. He emphasized that large-scale adoption of such technologies could bring transformative changes to the global energy landscape by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and enabling cleaner industrial and mobility solutions.
Uttar Pradesh’s Focus on Renewable and Clean Energy
The Chief Minister reiterated that Uttar Pradesh is actively promoting renewable energy initiatives, including green hydrogen, solar power, and other sustainable technologies. The state is encouraging industrial investment, research, and innovation to build an energy-secure and environmentally responsible future.
Strengthening India–Japan Technical Cooperation
The visit is also viewed as a step toward deepening technical collaboration between Uttar Pradesh and Japan in emerging energy technologies. Experts believe such partnerships can accelerate hydrogen-based projects, foster green mobility solutions, and generate new employment and investment opportunities.
