Odisha is steadily positioning itself as a renewable energy hub, supported by clear policies and readily available project sites, according to GRIDCO, Managing Director (MD). The official said the state has created a favourable environment for investors looking to develop clean energy projects.
Speaking on the state’s energy roadmap, the MD highlighted that Odisha has streamlined approval processes and identified suitable land parcels for solar, wind and hybrid power projects. These steps are aimed at reducing project lead time and encouraging private participation in the renewable sector.
The state government has also been focusing on strengthening transmission infrastructure to support the evacuation of power from upcoming renewable plants. Officials said new grid corridors and substations are being planned to handle the growing share of clean energy in the state’s power mix.
Odisha’s renewable energy push aligns with India’s broader clean energy targets and aims to reduce dependence on conventional power sources. The state has also been exploring energy storage solutions to improve grid stability and manage intermittent power generation.

An official from GRIDCO said, “With policy certainty and project-ready locations, Odisha is well placed to attract long-term investments in renewable energy.”
Going forward, the state is expected to invite fresh bids for solar, wind and hybrid power projects, while continuing to upgrade grid infrastructure to support large-scale clean energy integration.
