Maharashtra Reshuffles Bureaucracy, Sawan Kumar appointed Collector Bhandara

In a bid to strengthen administrative efficiency and public service delivery, the Maharashtra government has announced a fresh round of IAS transfers affecting key posts including Collectors and Zilla Parishad CEOs.


Dr. Ashok Karanjkar (IAS: SCS: 2009) has been appointed Member Secretary of the Rest of Maharashtra Statutory Development Board, overseeing developmental initiatives across multiple districts. Dr. Sanjay Kolte (IAS: SCS: 2010), former Bhandara Collector, will now serve as Managing Director of the Shivshahi Punarvasan Project in Mumbai, a critical urban redevelopment initiative.

Sushil Khodwekar (IAS: RR: 2011) moves to Development Commissioner (Un-organised Labour), Mumbai, focusing on labour welfare in the informal sector. Sawan Kumar (IAS: RR: 2019) takes over as Bhandara Collector.

In leadership changes at the grassroots level, Naman Goyal (IAS: RR: 2022) becomes CEO, Zilla Parishad Nandurbar, bringing his tribal and rural development experience to the role. From the 2023 batch, Dr. G.V.S. Pavandatta has been transferred to Igatpuri Sub Division, Nashik, while Laghima Tiwari moves to Gondpimpri Sub Division, Chandrapur.

The reshuffle, effective August 12, is aimed at improving coordination between state and local administrations, aligning development priorities with regional needs, and bolstering governance in both rural and urban sectors.
