Centre announces Key Bureaucratic Appointments and Additional Charges Across Ministries, Check List

In a series of high-level bureaucratic changes, the Government of India has approved new appointments and additional charges for senior officers across multiple ministries and departments.

  • Sanjeev Chopra (IAS: 1990: OR), Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries from 9 to 21 August 2025, during the leave of A P Das Joshi (IAS: 1994: AM).

  • Vivek Aggarwal (IAS: 1994: MP), Secretary, Ministry of Culture, will hold additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Tourism from 11 August to 4 September 2025, during the leave of V Vidyavathi (IAS: 1991: KN).

New Appointments in Key Ministries

  • Inderjeet Singh (IAS: 2010: RJ) appointed Director, Ministry of Culture (five years).

  • Suvasis Das (IRS IT: 2014) appointed Deputy Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals (four years).

  • Nitish Suri (ITradeS: 2011) appointed Director, Department of Higher Education (five years).

  • Ravi Dhawan (IAS: 2011: AGMUT) appointed Director, Ministry of Power (five years).

Director of Census Operations / Citizen Registration Appointments


  • Cheshta Yadav (IAS: 2014: AGMUT) – Goa (additional charge till 31 Dec 2025).

  • Gaurav Singh Rajawat (IAS: 2011: AGMUT) – Lakshadweep (additional charge till 31 Dec 2025).

  • Sufiyah Faruqui Wali (IAS: 2009: MP) – Madhya Pradesh (from 1 Oct 2025 to 31 Dec 2025).

  • Amit Sharma (IAS: 2012: AGMUT) – Mizoram (additional charge till 31 Dec 2025).

  • Purva Garg (IAS: 2015: AGMUT) – Andaman & Nicobar Islands (additional charge till 31 Dec 2025).

  • Sujal Jayantibhai Mayatra (IAS: 2011: GJ) – Gujarat (till 31 Dec 2025).

  • Kartikeya Goel (IAS: 2010: CH) – Chhattisgarh (till 31 Dec 2025).

Finance Intelligence Unit & CBI Inductions


  • Additional charge of Director (FIU-India) held by Vivek Aggarwal (IAS: 1994: MP) extended ex-post facto from 30 March to 21 April 2025.

  • Amit Mohan Govil (IRS IT: 1990), DG, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau, given additional charge of Director (FIU-India) for six months.

  • J Elanchezhian (IPS: 2010: PB) inducted as Deputy Inspector General, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for five years.
