Prashant Kumar Singh Appointed as Chief Secretary of Manipur

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the repatriation of Prashant Kumar Singh to his parent cadre in Manipur, appointing him as the Chief Secretary of the state. A 1993-batch IAS officer, Singh succeeds Vineet Joshi, who has been elevated to Higher Education Secretary at the Centre.

Singh’s extensive career includes his recent role as Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and as CEO of the Government e-Marketplace, a transformative initiative under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. With a background in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and a master’s in Public Policy and Sustainable Development from TERI University, his expertise spans governance, energy, and technology.
