Gujarat is targeting a significant milestone by increasing its contribution to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the current 8% to 10% by 2030, according to Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Gujarat. Speaking at a Bengaluru roadshow for the Gujarat IT/ITES Policy 2022-27 on Thursday, Khandhar emphasised the state’s alignment with the national mission of Viksit Bharat.

“Gujarat, a leader in logistics and manufacturing, is now focusing on technology and futuristic innovations to achieve this goal,” she said. Khandhar highlighted the pivotal role of the IT/ITeS (information technology and IT-enabled services) sector in boosting Gujarat’s economic footprint. She also revealed plans for a Global Capability Centers (GCC) policy and initiatives in semiconductors, complementing the state’s existing biotechnology policy. Collaboration with Karnataka to create impactful initiatives further strengthens Gujarat’s vision for technological advancement.

Anmol Patel, Director of Ganesh Housing Corporation, also addressed the gathering. He said, “Gujarat’s forward-thinking IT/ITeS policy is driving growth, with Ahmedabad emerging as a prime destination for IT, IT-enabled services, and global tech investments.” Patel showcased Ganesh Housing’s Million Minds Tech City, a 65-acre integrated tech ecosystem offering 18 million square feet of IT facilities. “This strategic project positions Gujarat as a leading tech and innovation hub, supporting regional development and attracting global investments,” he added.


The event, hosted by Ganesh Housing Corporation in collaboration with the Gujarat Government and the Department of Science and Technology, marked the second roadshow for the Gujarat IT/ITES Policy.
