Gujarat Police

In a late-night announcement on Monday, the Gujarat Home Department ordered the transfer of 19 Indian Police Service (IPS) and six State Police Service (SPS) officers, implementing significant leadership changes across districts and departments to address pressing law-and-order challenges.

1996 batch IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian has been appointed as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law and Order in Gandhinagar. Pandian, who previously served as ADGP for CID (Crime and Railways), takes over the pivotal role to enhance governance and security measures.

The vacancy for the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Sector-2, Ahmedabad, which had remained unfilled since May 2023, has been addressed with the appointment of Jaipalsinh Rathore, a 2010 batch officer. Rathore’s assignment is aimed at addressing growing law-and-order concerns, particularly in eastern Ahmedabad.

Additional DGP Brijesh Kumar Jha has been appointed as the Rajkot Police Commissioner. In related appointments, Sudhir Desai and Vidhi Choudhary have received new roles after nearly 20 months. Choudhary now serves as the Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) in Ahmedabad, with an additional role in administration.

Shamsher Singh, DGP (Law and Order), has been replaced by Rajkumar Pandian but will continue as Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Vidhi Choudhary, 2009 batch IPS, has been promoted to Additional DGP (Special Branch). Himkar Singh assumes charge as Superintendent of Police (SP) for Rajkot Rural.

Bharatkumar Rathod, 2018 batch IPS, is the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Zone-2, Ahmedabad. He succeeds Shreepal Shesma, who awaits a new posting. Sudhir Desai transitions to the SP of Intelligence role in Gandhinagar, previously held by Rathod.
