Chhattisgarh Police


In a major late-night development on Wednesday, the Chhattisgarh government announced a reshuffle in the state’s police force, transferring key IPS officers.

Lal Umed Singh, a 1996-batch IPS officer, has been named the new Superintendent of Police (SP) for Raipur. Singh, renowned for his distinguished service, has held pivotal roles in districts such as Bastar, Raigarh, Korba, Raipur, and Durg. He is noted for his involvement in Naxal encounters and his tenure with the Intelligence Wing at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) between 2015 and 2017.


In other key changes, Santosh Kumar Singh, a 2011-batch IPS officer, has been temporarily posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police at the Police Headquarters in Atal Nagar, Raipur. Suraj Singh Parihar of the 2015 batch will assume charge of the 14th Battalion in Dhanora, Balod district. Meanwhile, Ravi Kurre has been appointed as the new SP of Korea, overseeing the 18th Battalion in Manendragarh.

Harish Rathore has been assigned as the Chief Minister’s Security Superintendent of Police, tasked with ensuring VIP security across the state. Previously overseeing the VIP Battalion Mana, Rathore now takes charge of the Chief Minister’s safety.
