38 IAS transferred in Punjab, Apneet Riyait appointed Special Secretary Housing and Urban Development Dept.

In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Punjab government on Thursday announced the immediate transfers and postings of 38 IAS officers and one PCS official. Showkat Ahmad Parray has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bathinda, replacing Jaspreet Singh, who takes on the role of State Transport Commissioner.


Sakshi Sawhney has been posted as DC of Amritsar, succeeding Ghanshyam Thori, who is now Special Secretary for Health. Preeti Yadav will assume the role of DC in Patiala. Jitendra Jorwal has been assigned as DC of Ludhiana, while Deepshikha Sharma has been posted as DC of Ferozepur, taking over from Rajesh Dhiman, who is now DC of SBS Nagar.

Sandeep Rishi is set to become DC of Sangrur, while Amarpreet Kaur Sidhu will take charge as DC of Fazilka, replacing Senu Duggal, who has been appointed Managing Director of Sugarfed. Himanshu Jain has been posted as the DC of Roopnagar, and Sona Thind will now serve as the DC of Fatehgarh Sahib.

Anindita Mitra, previously the Commissioner of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, has been posted as Secretary, Cooperation. Vinay Pratap has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) for Excise, while Alok Shekhar, who currently holds the position of ACS Jail, has also been given additional responsibility for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries.


Krishan Kumar, the Principal Secretary for Water Resources, has been given the additional charge of Financial Commissioner for Taxation. Gurpreet Singh Khaira will take on the role of Special Secretary for Local Government, while Apneet Riyait has been appointed Special Secretary for Housing and Urban Development.

Varjeet Walia has been posted as Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
