Sarada Muraleedharan


Senior IAS officer Sarada Muraleedharan, a 1990-batch Kerala cadre officer, is set to take over as the 49th Chief Secretary of Kerala. The state cabinet has approved her appointment following the retirement of her husband, V Venu, also a 1990-batch IAS officer, on August 31. Muraleedharan, currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary (Planning), will step into her new role under the direction of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Sarada Muraleedharan brings a wealth of experience to the position, having held significant roles in various departments, including heading the Kudumbashree Mission and serving as Director General at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Her diverse career also includes key positions in the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj at the central level.
