Manish Kumar assumed the additional responsibilities of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) at Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) on Thursday, following the superannuation of Bhola Singh on January 31. Kumar, who has been serving as NCL’s Director (Personnel) since September 21, 2022, has now been entrusted with the top leadership role at the company.

According to an official statement released by the Coal Indian subsidiary, Kumar’s appointment came through an office order issued by the Ministry of Coal. He brings a wealth of experience, having served in various capacities within the coal sector for over 29 years.

Kumar’s tenure at NCL has been marked by significant strides in human resource management and industrial relations. Prior to joining NCL, he held positions at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Coal India Headquarters in Kolkata.

Recognized for his exceptional managerial skills and decisive leadership, Kumar has played a pivotal role in formulating and implementing human resource policies across Coal India and its subsidiaries. He is known for his simplicity and precise decision-making abilities.

Upon assuming the role of NCL CMD, Kumar urged the team to maintain the company’s stellar performance in ensuring the nation’s energy security.
