In a rare development, British King Charles III today spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the G-20 presidency and the spread of digital public goods.

As this was PM Modi‘s first call with Charles after the latter assumed office, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced in a statement that he wished the King a very prosperous reign.

Both parties discussed topics including tackling climate change, protecting biodiversity, and developing creative ways to finance the energy transition, among others.

The PMO said, “The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for His Majesty’s persistent interest in and advocacy on these subjects.”

Prime Minister briefed Charles on India’s priorities for its G-20 Presidency, including the propagation of digital public goods. He also discussed the significance of Mission LiFE, an initiative by India to encourage ecologically friendly living.
