Loknath Behra takes charge of MD, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd.

The Government of Kerala, in a recent order, assigned Loknath Behra (IPS 1985-Batch) as the new Managing Director of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. The decision to appoint Behra, a retired IPS officer, at the post of MD was taken during a cabinet meeting on August 17. He will hold the charge for a period of three years.


Behra has taken over the post on August 18 from the outgoing MD KR Jyothilal, Principal Secretary to the Government of Kerala. Jyothilal was holding the charge of MD, Kochi Metro in additional capacity.

Loknath Behra commenced his bureaucratic career in the state police from the post of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP). He has also served in various capacities including Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Commissioner of Police in Kochi and Deputy Commissioner of Police in Thiruvananthapuram. In 2009, he has also served in National Investigation Agency (NIA)and was one of the founder members of the agency. Behra also received a President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2009. On June 30 this year, Behra retired from the police service.
