With the orders from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Mukul Goel (IPS 1987-Batch) has been assigned the post of Director-General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh.

Goel will succeed DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi (IPS 1985-Batch) who has retired from the post on June 30. Prior to the new appointment, Goel was on central deputation serving as Additional DGP (Operations) in the Border Security Force (BSF).
