Haryana: Ashok Garg Gets Additional Charge of DHBVN, Ashok Kumar Appointed MD of HVPNL

In a minor administrative reshuffle, the Nayab Singh Saini-led Haryana government has issued new transfer and posting orders for two senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, impacting key leadership roles in the state’s power and administrative ecosystem.

  • Ashok Garg (2006 batch): Currently serving as Commissioner of Hisar Division and CEO of Hisar Metropolitan Development Authority, he has been given additional charge of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), the state utility responsible for electricity distribution in southern Haryana.

  • Ashok Kumar (2009 batch): Appointed as the new Managing Director of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL), the nodal agency for electricity transmission across the state. His appointment comes at a strategic moment as the government focuses on strengthening transmission infrastructure and improving reliability.

This administrative move is viewed as part of a routine governance realignment intended to boost operational efficiency in Haryana’s power sector. Both DHBVN and HVPNL play pivotal roles in ensuring energy supply, especially amid rising summer demand.
